Thursday Tunes

As promised I am sharing some new and favorite music today. I have just recently fallen in love with this band called SisterBrother. Their lyrics and music is amazing! So I thought I'd share one of my favorite songs from their debut album with you. It is called Things Above and I love how the song builds up. Every time it comes up on my itunes I just stop for a second to take in the song. It is extremely beautiful.
So... here's the music and find the lyrics below:
We set our affections on things above
We fix our attention on the face of Love
We lay our offenses at the feet of Christ
We fix our attention on the highest prize

All that is true,
All that is pure,
All that is love,
I will think upon these
All that is holy,
All that is lovely,
All that is righteous and true,
I will think upon these

We set our affections on things above
We fix our attention on the face of Love
We lay our offenses at the feet of Christ
We fix our attention on the highest prize

All that is true,
All that is pure,
All that is love,
I will think upon these
All that is holy,
All that is lovely,
All that is righteous and true,
I will think upon these

Only You are worthy!
Only You are worthy!
Only You are worthy!

Come on and sing with me all you angels!
Come on and sing with me all you angels!
Come on and sing with me all you angels!
Come on and sing with me all you angels!

Come and behold Him
Come fall in love again

Fall in love again..

A new season, music and Sweden

I can only repeat myself in saying I love Fall! It is really my favorite season and I love how it always seems to be the beginning of something. I feel like this is a new season for me. It is a season of hope. A season of growing closer to the Lord, falling more in love with Him. It is a season of change in every aspect. A season of growth and a season of learning!

I updated my Soundtrack section of the blog. I know it is only a couple of songs but I am putting together a Fall playlist with some really great new music I think you will all love!

I am leaving for Sweden tomorrow!!!! I'm super excited. I can't wait to be there. If you want to stay updated on my time there you can follow me on instagram @ramonasebald or wait until I post all the pictures of my time there.
Check back on Thursday for some awesome Thursday tunes and lyrics!

Much love

Thursday Tunes

This Fall has already brought me a lot of amazing music which I consider to be defining for this season. So I am sure there will be a lot of sharing of songs and I would like to start with this one by Josh Garrels which really stood out to be the first Fall song this year. It is from one of his older albums and is called Children of the Earth. I love this song. So here's the song along with the lyrics:

Children of the earth
once dust but now life
living in times of flesh and bone
Behold, spiritual warfare
set a flame in my heart
Illuminate the darkest hours
where I wait,
before the dawn
to see
the glory and the power
of the Lord

Hallelujah

the older we become
we must become more like a Child
believing there's a Land that lies Beyond
all the things that we've seen
make my mind free from fears
you know I can't do it on my own
the Way is hard, but
we could fly over...
when you hear our wings

we sing

Hallelujah

I know it's been a week but it's crazy here right now and I only have one more day at my current job before I go on vacation and before I start my new job! Super excited about that right now!

Anyways usually Thursday is somewhat of a musical day and I have updated my Current Soundtrack with my summer playlist. I had put it together for my birthday party and thought it would fun to share with you!

So, turn up the volume, enjoy the sun and listen to some awesome music - that's at least what I've been doing!

Thursday Tunes

This week this song keeps being my go-to. I listen to it all the time. And of course it's Bon Iver. He's an amazing artist.
I am just going to share the song with you and let speak to you itself.

Thursday Tunes

The following song is one which expresses my deepest feelings and love for God. We sang it last week in you(th) and I don't think it ever spoke to me this much as last week.
So I spare you with more words and let the music do the speaking:

Music Playlist at MixPod.com

Take all of me
You broke the night like the sun
And healed my heart with Your great love
Any trouble I couldn't bear
You lifted me upon Your shoulders

Love that's stronger
Love that covers sin
And takes the weight of the world

I love You
All of my hope is in You
Jesus Christ take my life
Take all of me

You stand on mountain tops with me
With You i walk through the valleys
You gave Your only Son for me
Your grace is all I rely on

I love You so, and I give up my heart to say
I need You so, my everything

Thursday Tunes

Alrighty, today's Thursday tunes are little bit of pop music because I think we all need that every once in a while. I've known the song for a while now and since this week seems to be about the heart that song couldn't be more fitting. It is called Follow your Heart by Nathan Angelo.
Find the lyrics below and check back tomorrow as I'm going to share some thoughts on following your heart.

You say, "I'm done
I'm giving in
My bags have all been packed
I've lost my will to win
Should I move on
Or should I stay right here
Cause it's hard to find your way
When nothin's ever clear"
When you look at your life and where you've been
And you're wonderin' why you did what you did
You won't think twice if you just live by what's inside
Follow your heart
It'll never lead the wrong way
When you're fallin' apart
You'll know you're in the right place
When the goin' gets tough
And you're thinkin' it's enough to turn and walk away
Follow your heart
You won't ever be the same
You say, "I've tried
I've been down that road
It always takes me to a place so far away from home
And you don't know how much it hurts to fall
I'd rather save a little love
Than take a risk and loose it all"
Follow your heart
It'll never lead the wrong way
When you're fallin' apart
You'll know you're in the right place
When the goin' gets tough
And you're thinkin' it's enough to turn and walk away
Follow your heart
You won't ever be the same

Thursday Tunes

I know I have shared this song before but it still get to me every time I hear it. There is a beauty and poetry and depth to this song that just gives me goosebumps!
It's called Trees (Hallway of Leaves) and is by Sleeping at Last:

It's just beyond those trees...
The place I've been dreaming of.
Will you follow me?

Trust me, I know where I'm going.

It's somewhere here within the leaves...
There must be some mistake...

Trust me, I know where I'm going

We'll cut a path out for us
Through the green seas,
We'll make hallways of leaves

I know it seems it was just some crazy dream
And I know my eyes were closed
But this dream feels more real to me
Than life itself.
My ear is pressed upon this wall,
For behind it is that place.

The door is locked...
I'll do whatever it takes

(you have to) Trust me, I know where I'm going.

Will you follow me?
Will you follow me, still?

In the moments that I feel
We're closer than ever before
The world drops out from under our feet.
But I believe the darkest of fights
Prove we're almost there.

There is always something there
to take our hearts like thieves
There is always something there
to take our hearts (But nothing matters.)
There is always something there to take

When we arrive
We will hear
Voices sing,

Nothing matters.
Nothing matters anymore.
Nothing matters anymore, anymore, anymore.

It's beginning to get dark.
But don't worry,
I know where we are,
I know where we are.
Will you follow me, still?

xoxo

Thusday Tunes

About two weeks ago I was randomly listening to music in the morning and this song came up. I've never heard it before on my playlist (probably because I have a whole bunch of new music). I paused because the song just got me somehow. It was one of those moments when your sould connects with music. It has been on my daily playlist ever since and I have to share it with the lyrics with you. It is by Adam Agin and is called "Please don't leave quite yet"

Underneath my bed there's a raincoat
Packed with scarfs and books Just go look
But don't let the storm slow you down
No honey, don't let the storm slow us down
It'll slow us down

The sound the furnace makes irritates you
I promise by next spring we'll replace it
But dont let the winter run you out
No honey, dont let the winter run us down

It'll run us down
It'll run us down
It'll run us down

And all I want it to get better
I swear I'll work to make it better

So please don't leave quite yet
So Please don't leave quite yet
Oh Please don't leave quite yet

Don't Leave
please don't leave quite yet
Don't Leave, Don't Leave
Please don't leave quite yet

Thursday Tunes

I have listened to Keane for many years. Actually my friend Josh had introduced me to them when I was 17 or so. Today I want to share one of their songs that I have always loved and I keep playing it these days. I have never actually looked at the lyrics until recently and I think they are beautiful. I have a whole film going on in my head upon reading these words.
Listen to the song and read the lyrics below.

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete

Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?

Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know?

This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know?

Oh how I love it when listening to music all of a sudden one line in a song pops out and is exactly what you need to hear. And then you research the song and even though you've known that song for a long time it speaks to you in a whole different and whole new way again.
That's what happened with Beyond the Blue by Josh Garrels. So I have to share it with you, in particular the line "And to do the right thing even when it burns"... soooo good!
Here's the song and find the lyrics below.

Stand on the shores of a site unseen
The substance of this dwells in me
Cause my natural eyes only go skin deep
But the eyes of my heart anchor the sea
Plumbing the depths to the place in between
The tangible world and the land of a dreams
Because everything ain't quite it seems
There's more beneath the appearance of things
A beggar could be king within the shadows,
Of a wing
And wisdom will honor everyone who will learn
To listen, to love, and to pray and discern
And to do the right thing even when it burns
And to live in the light through treacherous turns
A man is weak, but the spirit yearns
To keep on course from the bow to the stearn
And throw overboard every selfish concern
That tries to work for what can't be earned
Sometimes the only way to return is to go,
Where the winds will take you
And to let go, of all, you cannot hold onto
For the hope, beyond,the blue
Yellow and gold as the new day dawns
Like a virgin unveiled who waited so long
To dance and rejoice and sing her song
And rest in the arms of a love so strong
No one comes unless they're drawn
By the voice of desire that leads em' along
To the redemption of what went wrong
By the blood that coveres the innocent one
No more separation
Between us.
So lift your voice just one more time
If there's any hope may it be a sign
That everything was made to shine
Despite what you can see
So take this bread and drink this wine
And hide your spirit within the vine
Where all things will work by a good design
For those who will believe
And let go, of all, we cannot hold onto
For the hope, beyond, the blue
Said i let go, of all, i could not hold onto
For the hope, i have, in you

Thursday Tunes

I'm exited because today is dedicated to music. This blog is called "The Soundtrack of my Life" after all... so... I've been listenting to a ton of new music lately and it was really hard for me to find a song that really speaks to me and share it with you. But I think I found one in the end :-)
I have been listening to William Fitzsimmons a lot lately. I love his voice and his music is beyond inspiring, encouraging and full of poetry. The song that I'm going to share is called Goodmorning and the lyrics couldn't be more fitting at the advent of this Spring where Winter is coming to an end. One season ends and another begins. I am ready for new life, new beginnings and the freshness of Spring.

So here's the song and find the lyrics below:

Moonlight will fall
Winter will end
Harvest will come
Your heart will mend
Good morning
Good morning
You will find love
Good morning
You will find love
You will find love
Good morning
Good morning

Also, I added a whole lot of other music to my Current Soundrack. Other favorites by William Fitzsimmons, Mat Kearney and Jenny & Tyler.

Hope you enjoy it!

Can't make you love me

I'm sorry that I am posting such a sad song on Valentines Day. It has nothing to do with that :-) I'm single, so I don't celebrate V-Day.
I just wanted to share this song for its beauty and because I cannot stop listening to it. Bon Iver's voice touches my soul.

Thursday Tunes

Lifehouse used to be one of my favorite bands, but for a few years I was barely able to listen to any of the songs because they reminded me of a time I didn't want to be reminded of.
Of course that is not the case anymore and I really still love their older albums like No Name Face or Stanley Climbfall.
One of my favorite songs still is Storm and it came up on my itunes the other day and I knew I had to share because it is one of these songs that just let's me freeze everything I am doing, catches my attention and brings me to tears.
The lyrics are beautiful, so enjoy:

How long have I been in this storm?
So overwhelmed by the ocean's shapeless form
Water's getting harder to tread
With these waves crashing over my head

If I could just see you
Everything would be all right
If I'd see you
This darkness would turn to light

And I will walk on water
And you will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
I know everything will be alright
I know everything is alright

I know you didn't bring me out here to drown
So why am I ten feet under and upside down
Barely surviving has become my purpose
Cause I'm so used to living underneath the surface

If I could just see you
Everything would be all right
If I'd see you
This darkness would turn to light

And I will walk on water
And you will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
I know everything will be alright

And I will walk on water
You will catch me if I fall
And I will get lost into your eyes
I know everything will be alright
I know everthing is alright

Everything is alright
Everything is alright

Thursday Tunes

Today I want to share a beautiful song by sleeping at last with you. The lyrics strike me, especially the last part speaks very deeply into my heart.
The song is called Watermark:

You were carved out of the sea
Watermarked by your ancestry
In a tug of war between the tide and me
What felt like loss was a victory
Cause you were swept ashore like bottles holding prayers

You were carved out of the earth
Safe and sound in your second birth
Gravity has tied your ankle to the shore
As a lighthouse tamed the endless ocean war

Against the calming light our silhouettes are changing shape
The stories you've been told have made you brave

Such inheritance was formed within the sand
Like the shells you gather in the safety of your hands
Dive in with your eyes closed
For the life you were born to claim
And the water will be paralyzed
By the courage you contain
And the flutter of your earnest heart
It will fill the silent seas
And all will be restored in your memory

The First Page

Yesterday after a day full of work I sat in my living room, candles lit and tea at my side. And I started the first page of my new journal.
For me starting a new journal, filling the first page with ink is something almost sacred (and I don't mean that in a spiritual way). That first time my pen hits the pages full of expectations and hope and curiosity of what kind of stories and experiences and God encounters will fill this book.

Beth/Rest by Bon Iver on Grooveshark
I had this song on repeat and it got to me in that moment, it soothed my soul. At that moment, ink on paper, and music in my ear all I felt was happiness and bliss. Delight. The kind of delight that makes you cry. And I cried. Good, happy tears. Tears of relieve.

Turning to Page 29

It amazes me how I seem to have a song for each season in my life. How songs come back to me only to express and give words to the circumstances of my life. And I have already updated my Current Soundtrack, trying to piece together some music that has currently been playing on my CD player. I know I will change it up soon again as times are changing - as I am changing.
But today I want to share a song I have shared before and it came back to me again. It is the continuance of yesterday's post.
So turn up the volume and listen to the song while I post the lyrics:

Page 28 by Sleeping At Last on Grooveshark

Have you read the script?
Could you picture it?
...is it worth the risk?

Everything I love
Is on the line
On these neon signs

But I need to know - when you looked away
Was it something that I said?
Was it something that I said?
Well okay, okay I need you more than I did before
Now that the concrete is nearly set

Here in the second act I'm living in repair
Strange how the heart adapts when its pieces disappear
And there on page 28 I'm so tired of drying glue
I begin my grand attempt at building something new

Though I tend to write
The epiphany more immediately
I guess I'm trusting that there's such a thing
As elegance in dissonance

God, I'm skeptical of pulling scenes
Was it something that I said?
Was it something that I said?
Please don't get me wrong - I still need your help
As history repeats itself

Here in the aftermath I'm pulling at the seams
Strange how the heart adapts in the absence of routine
And there on page 29 I find "new" and make it mine
But I can't help casting shadows on all I leave behind

Maybe I could afford to change a bit
Even let go of the reigns?
Every torn out page was worth the risk
Now that the stakes have been raised

So here in the final draft
I've given all I have
Strange how the heart expands in the absence of a plan
There's nothing left on the page, but I'm ok with that
For I found my resolution
Was designed for stronger hands

Page 28, Sleeping at Last

So here I am looking at Page 29 without a plan or a draft. The only thing left is knowing that I have an amazing God with greater plans.

xoxo
